Work Schedule
This policy is effective March 31, 2025.
This policy applies to all employees on the Software Development Team at PWI.
Weekly Hours
The target average workweek is 43 hours for orange-level software team members, and 45 hours for management positions. While hours are not actively monitored, discrepancies are noticeable, and we expect employees to do their due diligence to ensure they are consistently meeting this average.
Daily Schedule
Standard office hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. While flexibility is allowed as long as weekly hours are met, the following guidelines must be followed:
Our department has a daily scrum meeting at 7:15 AM. Attendance is required.
If you expect to arrive late for the meeting, notify your manager as soon as possible.
Use a synchronous communication channel (e.g. phone call, text message, Telegram). Asynchronous communication channels (ex. email, Twist) are not acceptable.
Failure to notify in advance may result in disciplinary action.
Frequent or repeated tardiness, regardless of notice, may result in disciplinary action.
Software team members may take up to 1 hour for lunch throughout the week as long as:
project deadlines are being met
you are available for team collaboration as needed
While there are no formal breaks for office staff, we recognize the value of brief pauses for informal interactions, getting coffee/breakfast, etc. We expect you to take personal ownership and manage your time responsibly, ensuring that you are completing your tasks and respecting others' time.
We allow the flexibility to leave early or during the day as needed for appointments, etc. If you need to leave the office before 3:30 pm advance notice to your manager is required.
Use paid time off or make up missed hours for any time off.
Ensure your manager is fully aware of your departure and expected return time (if applicable).
Extended departures without paid time off need at least one full business day's notice.
Post early departures on the software team Telegram chat when you leave, to keep the rest of the team informed.
Leaving during work hours without advance notice may result in disciplinary action.
Emergency situations are exempt from discipline, but you are still expected to inform your supervisor as soon as possible. A phone call or voicemail is ideal.
Flexible Schedule
Temporary schedule adjustments may be approved by a manager for special circumstances. Discuss any scheduling needs directly with your supervisor.
Remote Work
We believe that regular in-person collaboration is key to project efficiency and building strong team culture. Because of this, we do not offer any remote or hybrid work options.
Disciplinary Points
The PWI Employee Handbook outlines disciplinary point policies, which are applied at manager discretion. Specific points for work schedule violations are detailed below, while all other handbook-defined points remain in effect.
1 point for failure to notify of tardiness
1 point per day for repeated tardiness
