Using Automations Models for Custom Projects
This procedure tells you how to create a custom Inventor design using an "automated" drawing set as a base. There are two methods - the simple and the advanced. The simple method will be all you need in most cases.
Simple Method
Run an automation that is close to what you want.
The .zip file will be stored in the
Inventor (internal use only)sub-folder of the automation. Extract the ZIP file and copy all files to your project folder.Run the
DeautomateDrawingmacro on each individual drawing document before making any changes to the drawings.
Advanced Method
Find the correct model in the Automation WIP folder - Z:\Engineering\14 Automation and Programming\Automated Drawing Files
Copy the entire folder to your desktop or workspace.
Configure the model as closely as possible to what you want before modifying any drawings.
Run the
DeautomateDrawingmacro on each individual drawing document before making any changes to the drawings.
Special Considerations
There are a few things to be particularly aware of when using automations for custom projects.
- Suppressing iLogic Rules
iLogic rules can be suppressed to prevent undesirable changes, but use care when doing this. In most cases, iLogic rules automate a lot of design decisions that are easy to forget about. We recommend configuring a model as closely as possible to what you want before suppressing any rules.
